Inspired to write this by the film Dali starring Ben Kingsley
Eccentric artist extraordinaire his curled moustache
Worn like an angel's outspread wings
Divining paintings so captivating yet disturbing and rash
Unveiling the mind's power to manifest unfurling springs
Cadaques was his spiritual magnificent cocoon
Where his art evolved and with his soul fused
Feted by the whole world his art renowned widely consumed
Though a troubled spirit in drawing he found his true home soothed
For his brilliance to shine his work to emerge and truly abound
All of his visions their mysteries he never fully understood
A unique mind expressed through a labyrinth of ideas to astound
Harnessed between fingers the stroke of colours on his skilled brush
Plotted and scaped scenes to canvasses galore art dealers to clutch
Envisioned through eyes and senses of genius often delirious
Teetering on madness fuelled by insecurity of his talent yet so serious
His art's legacy is its ability to evoke obscure questions
Deeper feelings of our remoteness yet hope not charred
His superlative interpretations of imaginings bizarre rebellion
Imprinted indelible impressions in the realm of the avant-garde
With visuals and stories held in time an historic reservoir
To be admired dissected debated and forever explored
